Samsung CLP-325W Colour Laser Printer Review
Samsung CLP-325W Review

Following on from earliar models CLP300, CLP-310, and CLP-315, the new Samsung CLP-325W attempts to impress with stylish modern looks and a small footprint.

The CLP-325W features a 130 page paper tray and 80 page output tray. The small machine delivers colour printing with up to 2,400 x 600dpi. Print quality will not compare to a good inkjet printer for photographs, but results are satisfactory for business publications. Print speeds can be slow, making this machine a bad choice for demanding offices. The first print after warm-up takes approximately 26 seconds, followed by a claimed 4ppm for a colour A4 and 16ppm for monochrome A4.

The added advantage of a one touch Wi-Fi set-up! Unfortunately there are owners who complain of problems with setting up the Wireless connection with certain routers and Mac operating systems. Sadly a USB or Ethernet cable are not included in the box which would be of use as a back-up plan in such circumstances.

Amazing to think that you can pick up this colour laser printer for under £100? How do manufacturers produce a machine like this and still make a profit? By selling the consumables dummy! The toner cartridges cost almost, if not more than the initial purchase price of the hardware. As with many colour laserjet machines you are buying into a 'pay as you go' culture. Even by using the 30% eco toner save mode you will still require a new set of toners every thousand pages or so (this printer comes with smaller capacity starter cartridges), making the CLP-325 an expensive printer to run.

The Samsung CLP-325W does not feature a scanner or fax facility and has been designed as a dedicated colour printer for home and small office use. There are many Inkjet printers on the market today that offer more features, better performance, and are cheaper to run. So it is hard to recommend this printer ahead of those other machines.
